What is cloud computing ?

Cloud computing refers to the computing services, including - servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, or intelligence — over the Internet (or the Cloud).

These services let you deploy, manage and scale your applications, databases or analytics infrastructure using the best-of-the-breed servers, storage or security platforms without the burden of owning them. It also let's you use the to-end business software as a low-cost, pay-as-you-go shared services.

A Simpler Analogy

As a beginner or for the clarity of our thoughts, we may think of a taxi rental service like Uber as an analogy.

As we all know, these services let us choose our cars based on our size, comfort and usage (on-demand / rental / outstation etc.) needs, without the burden of owning them, maintaining them or worrying about their regulatory compliances as an end user.

When we use a rental car as service as an individual or a business, we can focus more on our primary needs in a flexible way, delegating the non-core items such as availability, maintenance, regulatory compliances for the driver or the vehicle (read as the core infrastructure) to the service provider.
